Connect to oikos from around the world: Join for an oiCoffee
Grab your favorite drink & meet a random oikee for a short, casual conversation. oiCoffee intros are a simple way to connect with oikees from all over the world. On a regular basis, you can decide to sign up in the #oikoffee-signup channel. We will then pair you with another oikee through a DM, encouraging you to meet for a virtual coffee over video chat!

To participate, just click the green checkmark box (✔️) in the #oikoffee-signup channel. This will automatically add you to the pool of members to be considered for the next oiCoffee round. Whenever a round ends, the next one will already be waiting for you there - so make sure to sign up again if you had fun!
You can choose the frequency of intros by clicking on the check mark emoji every time we re-post for another round. No worries, if you miss one sign-up period, the next one will open directly! We always try to introduce people who don't normally interact with each other.
If you want to provide additional contact information for your coffee friends, so they know how to get in touch with you, you can send a quick message in #bots with the following contents:

In the Discord server itself, you can send a message with your question in the #support channel or send a direct message to anyone with the @oikos Team label.
If you choose to contact us directly, and don’t receive any answer immediately, please don’t worry and feel free to send a reminder after a while.
If you have problems accessing the Discord server, you can also send a quick email with your concerns to team@oikos-international.org.
To choose what you are notified for, eg. general announcements or events, you can use special roles in our #pick-your-roles channel.
General Announcements: Announcements regarding general oikos topics and matters related to the Discord space. Event Announcements: Reminders and notifications for international and chapter events/programs.
To deselect announcements, just click the small icons below the explanation box. Just like that, you can click them again to opt back in to announcements. Keep in mind that you may only get these announcements and notifications if you use the phone apps Discord provides.

Stay up to date with all events by and for the oikos community!
Events and activities of ALL chapters that are open to the whole oikos community or, at least a specific region
Events hosted by oikos International (e.g. webinars, oikos AGORAs, international initiatives, onsite community meetings and conferences)
Make sure to feature your bigger events in the calendar so that the whole community can stay up to date with your projects and engage! How? Just follow the instructions below:
It’s simple: Everyone! Invite community@oikos-international.org to the guest list of your event. We will accept the invitation if the event is a match and it will show up in our calendar.
If you wish to use the oikos International zoom account, request it in advance via this form. Once you have the confirmation from our side, the event will automatically show in the community calendar, where you can make adjustments.
When creating an event on Google Calendar, select your time slot and a pop up window will appear.
Event description template
Event: What’s the topic & agenda? In a few sentences, summarize your event. Add the link to your Facebook/LinkedIn event, your website, the application form or any further information
Audience: Who is invited to attend? Is it a closed audience or open to anyone? Any targeted audience (e.g. oikos Community, program participants, alumni etc.). If the event is closed, tell participants about where they can find the zoom link.
Type: Is the event a stand-alone event or is it part of a series?

In order to keep the Discord server a safe space for everyone, here are some simple rules we'd like our community members to follow.
Stay respectful - think before writing and use your common sense. Make sure that your exchange with other fellow oikees is respectful and please avoid anything that might be offensive to other members.
No Spam - Please do not post any files or images that might be offensive to other members or contain viruses.
No political statements - we gather here to converse about leadership & sustainability & would appreciate it if this platform is not used for any form of political discourse.
Please don't link to this server to any other communities on Discord before talking about it to a moderator.

Discord is a community chatroom with text and video communication that works very similarly to messengers like Slack or WhatsApp. It is structured into servers and channels that are fostering different topics and spaces. A server is a collection of chat rooms (eg. text or voice/video, and resources).
We are looking forward to having you and growing this room for you and your fellow members together. In this guide, we will guide you through joining the platform, your first steps, and the possibilities it offers.
Joining is very easy, and you don’t need any more than a web browser on your laptop/computer or your phone.

It comes with all channels you need for your chapter to get started and is all yours to play around with! There won’t be any interference from oikos International if you choose to follow this template and leverage it for your local oikos chapter.
